Taking advantage of the nice weather, our high school students went on a trip around a geographical region along the Vistula River in northern Poland which in Polish is called Powiśle (27.09). As part of the “Small Homelands” project, students learned about the history and interesting places in this unique region of Poland.
Miłoradz, Mątowy Wielkie, Piekło (translated to English as Hell), Biała Góra, Sztum and Malbork are the most important places on this list. Churches and a castle from the 14th and 15th centuries, a complex of locks from the 19th century, a school building from 1937 are the most interesting architectural monuments that we visited.
The next destination is Warmia, a historical region in northern Poland, but this is our plan for next spring.
